■Switch fatty ingredients: Always try to opt for a healthier alternative, such as swapping natural yoghurt in place of cream, and choosing lean meats over fattier versions.
■Inject fat-free flavour: Make meals tasty and satisfying by using herbs and spices where possible rather than relying on salt, oil and sugar.
■Weigh it up: Keep portion sizes in check by aiming for a fist-sized amount of cooked pasta or brown rice per meal. That way you will have fewer leftovers and won't be tempted to eat them anyway.
