Research findings illustrate its medical benefits.
The pomegranate juice apart from its delicious taste has several health benefits studies have shown that pomegranate juice is a good source of antioxidants and lowers both cholesterol and blood pressure especially in diabetic and hypersensitive patients. Now a recent preliminary study suggests that pomegranate juice can ward off a number of complications in patients on dialysis including the high morbidity rate due to infections and cardiovascular events.
Researchers are quick to point that their findings suggest that drinking a controlled amount of pomegranate juice may help reduce the complications that often occur in dialysis patients considering the risk involved in potassium overload especially in Chronic kidney disease patients with dietary potassium restriction.
On a lighter vein a 250 ml glass of pomegranate juice provides approx 50% of an adult’s RDA of vitamin A, C and K, 100% RDA of folic acid and 13% RDA of potassium. But pomegranate juice also consists of more sugar roughly equal to two servings of a sweetened breakfast cereal.
